Nevada Statehood Ball
Description
The Statehood Ball returns to Piper’s Opera House on October 31, 2026! Celebrate Nevada’s 162nd anniversary of statehood in conjunction with our nation’s 250th anniversary at a Victorian Fancy Dress Masquerade Ball. This year we encourage you to get creative with your attire and dress in Fancy Dress as they did in the Victorian Era. “Fancy Dress” is essentially character costume. One of the most infamous Fancy-Dress Balls to have been reported on was the Vanderbilt’s extravagant 1883 Fancy Dress Ball held in New York City. Nearly 1,200 guests dressed as historical, mythical, and literary figures, as well as unique costumes such as a guest, Kate Strong, wearing a taxidermy cat and collar with the word “Puss”, and Alice Claypoole Vanderbilt herself representing the Electric Light that featured a battery powered glowing torch. For more inspiration, we’ve created a lookbook of designs for you to peruse. New this year, tintype photographer Eye of Rie, from Gardnerville, will be providing her services. To be able to accommodate as many people as possible, she will have time slots starting at 6:30pm when the doors open and will be every 15 minutes. The tintype plates will be offered in 5×7 only at $115 per plate. If you are wanting to have your tintype made, please schedule your timeslot by emailing [email protected] or calling 775-847-7500, and come prepared with cash or credit card to pay the photographer directly. Dance the night away to the music of Renegade Orchestra, enjoy light hors d’oeuvres, spiced punch, and a complimentary glass of champagne (or sparkling cider), and even delve into some Victorian mysticism and have your fortune told. Get your tickets before they sell out! Event is rain or shine – NO REFUNDS. Purchase tickets here
